Dual Digital Divide

The dual digital divide is going to create many problems for some people in the future. The divide is between users and non-users of the internet. There is a further divide called the "dual" divide, which is a divide of the non-users. This divide is the non-users that don't have the money for the internet, and the people who have no interest in the internet. The access people have to the internet isn't fair because the people who are better off are going to be more able to get the internet because they can afford it and poorer people don't have the money to get the internet. with the increase in the use of technology more people are going to need to use such things as the internet, and we need to find a way that people aren't going to be left behind in the world because they don't have the internet. I think somebody like the government should be giving people more access to such things. Maybe more access to libraries with free internet connection, or even free internet connection in your own home. This would really get rid of the divide because everybody would be able to have the internet and not worry about money. The major thing that is separating people is money, even in such small things as the internet. We need to do something before there are too many people left behind nit having or really knowing about the internet.

Diversity

I think that we can live in a diverse country. Here in Canada we do live in a pretty diverse place. We do practice diversity but it is also a theory t o some people. There are some people who are racists, but there are also the people who aren't. We have many different people living here in Canada and we are diverse but not everybody wants to be diverse. There are those people that just want to live with others like themselves but I don't think a country could not survive without the diversity. We wouldn't have all the different jobs and different religions or anything like that. If we didn't have a diverse country there might be more fighting with other countries because we wouldn't know much about them.

Gas Prices.

The gas prices are something that is all over the news. Gas and food prices are really going up all over the world. In the first article I read about how the prices are going up and more people are shopping and spending more money. They talked a lot about the economy as a whole. The second article was better it talked about the actual prices of gas. The average cost of gas right now is above $1.20. The lowest is around $1.14. We are not only having problems in Canada but in the U.S. also. They find themselves at an all time high also. The prices for things are going up all around the world. The food prices in Africa are getting so high that they are afraid of a food shortage because nobody will be able afford the food. They need to lower these prices or we won't be able to go on. They are predicting the prices of gas to go up to more than $1.30 before the summer, I actually heard one day $1.50. If prices keep going up like this we wont be able to buy the gas anymore and where I live there is no other way to get places, but in the city everybody is going to have to take public transportation, or walk. They are going to have to lower the prices or I see things going down hill for all.

Overall the two articles really had the same message but not really the same information. The article from the world paper was more interested in the economy as a whole and what everything looked like. The article from CBC was really focused on the gas prices right now here in Canada and in the States. They only looked at the direct prices and nothing else. I would say the articles are very different in the way they wrote about the same topic of gas prices.
I got my information from CBC news http://www.cbc.ca/money/story/2008/04/22/gasprices.html

and the World News http://article.wn.com/view/2008/05/01/Soaring_prices_for_food_gas_push_consumer_spending_higher_6/?section=RegionNAmerica&template=worldnews%2Findex.txt

WW2-- letter home

To my love,
Annie

I am just writing to let you and everybody know that I am find and on my way home. I feel a great relief in saying that. We have had success over here and all is well now. I can’t wait to see everybody that I love especially you. I miss you and the letters just aren’t enough anymore I need to see you. I can’t explain the feeling I have knowing the War is over and we have won and will be coming home soon. It really is a mess over here and sadly we have lost many good men, I feel so bad about it but am glad that it is all over. I still can’t believe that Germany wanted to take over the world. He was causing so much damage to the world. The celebration of when we had won was amazing, the feelings are indescribable. All the bodies of the people that had been killed, and the concentration camps there are no words. I just can’t wait to see you and hold you in my arms once again and try to live a semi normal life once again.

Love always,
John.

My Generation

I was born in generation y but have really lived in generation z. I was only five years old when the new generation began, but both seemed similare. The generation that I have really lived in is all about the internet, and the tv. Other generations like the baby boomers didn't really even have the internet, or a tv. The tv's were just new and they were in black and white. I think that our generation has had it too easy we really don't have to think to hard anymore, which is very different then before. This are really the same with politics. Fasion has really changed over the years. We are always getting better and newer clothes. I always hear older people saying how they don't like their pictures from when they were younger, and we might think the same thing later but right now we think we have the best clothes. I think that our generation is very differnt from the baby boomer, thats where I see most of the difference. We are going to grwo up and have to worry about all the issues like environmental, and childhood obisity, which the other generations don't have to do. We haven't been around to long so it is the effects and actions of the older generations that we have to deal with when we get to the point of having to work. I also thisnk that our generation isn't as smart as the other generations becuase we don't have to think as much, but I do quite enjoy the time that we are growing up in.

My Community

I live in the town of Glencoe. We have about 2400 people who live in this town. We are a rural community, with a lot of farm land. In our community we really only have white people, there are only a couple of people that are a different race. The majority of our population is older people, and there is a good male to female ratio. I think that over the years our community has stayed the same I haven't lived here for my whole life like the majority of our town but I have for long enough to know what it is like. I really like the town of Glencoe, I feel as though to many people are moving away from this town and into the bigger cities. Although the high school doesn't have many unique classes we can take like the bigger schools, we all love it. The fact that they are trying to close Glencoe is because of urbanization. They want us to go to bigger schools, and soon enough there wont be a high school here if they get what they want. I think that this could cause a big problem for the town of Glencoe, once you lose the high school there really wont be much left that is keeping people here. I really like this town and don't want to see that happen, I want to raise my family here when I am older and finished school. Over all I think the rural community is the best and I don't want that to change.
